Get Involved

God uses our hands to accomplish His plans.

Anytime you use what God has given you to help somebody else in Jesus’ name, that is called ministry. When you use your talents, gifts and abilities – when you give of your money, time, intelligence – when you share your energy, physical skill and your opportunities with Calvary, you are involved in ministry with us.

Financial gifts, when pooled together allow us to support a variety of ministries and take care of many expenses. Financial donations are necessary for budgeting and planning purposes. We encourage you to pledge, tithe and commit to stewardship. Your commitment to Calvary in turn allows Calvary to follow through on our promises to the local community and cover our year round operating expenses. However, there are also many ways you can contribute through service. Perhaps you might choose to get involved and use your time, talent and abilities in one of the following ways:

  • Serve as an usher or greeter or scripture reader

  • Get involved in an area of service or ministry like Backpack Buddies, Calvary's Cupboard, Winter Relief or our UMW or UMM groups

  • Join a Sunday school class

  • Participate in a Bible study

  • Join the choir

  • Volunteer to teach Sunday school or help in our children’s or youth ministry

  • Go on a mission trip

  • Help in one of our local missions projects like the Lighthouse Shelter

  • Volunteer to help with childcare

  • Volunteer to help with administration or in the church office

  • Volunteer to read Scripture in our Service at 10:00 AM.

  • Share your faith with someone you know that does not know Jesus

  • Invite someone to come to church with you

What is God calling you to do? How is He calling you to use your hands?

Holiday Gift Drive

Calvary supports two non-profit organizations: Children’s Choice and the Stanton Center

Calvary Children's Choice Gifts

Calvary is partnering again with Children's Choice to provide Christmas gifts for foster children. Please help us by signing up and purchasing Christmas gifts using the line button below. Price range is $25 - $35 and gifts are due the morning of Dec 8th. If you want to donate, but can’t shop please make a check to Calvary UMC and place in an envelope labeled Children’s Choice and give it to Melissa Gryder or Julie Taylor.

Children's Choice is a Christian based organization serving foster children in Anne Arundel and Eastern Shore counties in Maryland. May of these children have special needs and come from difficult backgrounds. Calvary helps them every year by providing gifts from wish lists made by the kids.

Contact Melissa Gryder at melissa.gryder@mac.com or 240-626-7778 with any questions.

Stanton Center Gift Drive

Calvary collaborates with the Stanton Community Center and the Annapolis Police Department to coordinate gifts for 100 children in need. We meet with the children to help them make their wish lists. Then Calvary members can

request a list and shop for the child. We hold a Holiday party where we give the children their gifts. List are available now and are

due on Sunday December 15. Gifts should be wrapped (in wrapping paper, not solely gift bags) and should have the child's name on each gift. Interested?
