“The mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ. Local churches provide the most significant arena through which disciple-making occurs” (The Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church, 2008, ¶12
The heart of local church ministry is in its lay leadership. Identifying, developing, deploying, and evaluating Christian spiritual leaders who serve from their strengths and gifts is a key to the life and vitality of the congregation. Church leadership areas including Church Council, the administrative areas of Finance and Trustees; and ministry areas focused on nurture, outreach, and witness including Worship, Evangelism, Stewardship, and Christian Education, age-level ministries, Communications, and more.
Calvary UMC is blessed to have the following, Lay Leaders, Pastors and Staff. There are many opportunities to lead and serve. Please contact us if you have a heart to join us in service.

Rev. Dr. Braulio Torres - Executive Pastor
firstname.lastname@example.org, (410) 268-1776 ext. 202
An Ordained Elder in the Baltimore Washington Conference, Dr. Torres received his Doctorate Degree in 2019 and his Masters of Divinity in 2010 from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. His Doctorate Dissertation addresses the question of how can we intentionally move from doing ministry for people, to doing ministry with people. In his dissertation he presents a model which he developed as an analytical process and a way to help local churches focus their efforts on doing ministry with people. This model considers the activities of the local church using three components: biblical foundation, contextual focus, and practical application. This model can be applied to any ministry endeavor.
Dr. Torres brings a wealth of experience including developing visitation ministries, working with local church programs in DC with youth in gangs, he has been a ministerial advisor for young-adults, and served as volunteer with Justice For Our Neighbors.
Dr. Torres is originally from Mexico, he is fluent in both English and Spanish and came to United States in 1999. He is married to Lucy G.
